You’ll work cross-functionally with teams in Marketing, Sales and Labs to deploy thought leadership materials and spokespeople in brand activities—including public relations, analyst relations, events and social media—as well as within prescribed, one-to-one engagements with select prospects and customers.     The Research Director, Technology will define and execute a research strategy for the technology space to develop and communicate persona-relevant insights for the organization, with the goal of providing insights that inform and engage key executives.  The research should showcase timely market perspectives as well as the knowledge and expertise retained within iCIMS, inclusive of insights from the company’s proprietary system data.


    The Research Director will work cross-functionally with teams of resources in Marketing, Sales and Labs to deliver against the annual strategic plan which will include the deployment of thought leadership materials and spokespeople in brand activities (public relations, analyst relations, events, social media, etc.) as well as within prescribed, one-to-one engagements with select prospects and customers.


    The Research Director will execute a robust communications strategy with the aim of driving thematic content across the trends in IT.  This position reports into the Sr. Director of Brand.

    • Develop research calendar in support of the company’s overall integrated communications plan and broader corporate objectives.
    • Devise and manage research projects including methodology recommendations, day-to-day project management, data analysis and strategic recommendations.
    • Collaborate well with research team members.
    • Analyze and communicate research plan and outcomes/insights both internally and externally.
    • Evaluate creative executions for accurate interpretation of research strategic insights.
    • Work under defined deadlines and budgets.
    • Support persona development journey mapping for the IT space.
    • Play a key role brainstorming and advising on how the various buyer persona audience members can be targeted with content that appeals specifically to each.
    • Write high quality, clear, actionable, advisory research documents.
    • Remain ahead of the curve on developments and issues within these specified areas as well as applicable adjacent areas.
    • Proactively work with the wider sales organization and deliver outstanding sales support in order to retain and grow the business.
    • Drive the creation of content focused on key sustainable themes to target audiences.
    • Identify and integrates established thought leadership content creators/spokespeople into the thought leadership practices.
    • Create a platform that promotes customer engagement and interaction, allowing iCIMS to demonstrate the value and relevance of our insight and analysis.
    • Manage staff thought leadership efforts, in the creation of high quality, timely and high-impact outputs. 
    • Help to ensure that all content is on brand, and of the highest editorial quality.
    • Collaborate with writers and designers to help define a compelling vision for iCIMS storytelling and how our ideas can be best presented in the market.
    • Adapt implications and actions by situation, strategic business context.
    • Extend personal experience to an array of clients and situations.
    • Represent iCIMS as the subject matter expert and executive spokesperson for research materials created in a variety of settings (one to many, one to few)
    • Communicate complex concepts concisely and with authority.
    • Create a metrics-driven environment for measuring the success of content as it relates to driving traffic, engagement and sales.
    • Ensures that business is conducted with integrity and that behavior aligns with iCIMS policies, procedures, and core competencies.


    • A minimum of 8 years of experience within a similar research role particularly within the technology or advisory space.
    • Subject matter expertise in the business application of technology, digital transformation, enterprise architecture, strategy, program management and execution, stakeholder management, business leadership and governance, and organizational change.
    • Knowledge of the SaaS or Human Resources space preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to navigate and cultivate relationships both internally and externally.
    • Highly organized, able to manage multiple complex programs simultaneously.
    • Creative, intellectually curious and able to effectively collaborate cross-functionally, partnering with stakeholders to drive business performance.  Storytelling and executive communications experience preferred.
    • Highly skilled at interpretation of data in order to glean and extract key strategic insights
    • Although not required, experience in multivariate analysis considered a plus
    • Persona development experience and consumer journey mapping experience also considered a plus.
    • Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, changing environment.
    • Creative problem solver, capable of removing obstacles and moving projects to completion.
    • Proven track record of creating and presenting compelling content in a variety of settings
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of management.
    • Strong planning, organizational, time management, and follow-through skills.
    • BS/BA or equivalent knowledge and experience.
